Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed and thoroughly dried
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil extra virgin preferred
  • to taste sea salt flaky sea salt for finishing
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper pepper adds subtle heat

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Tongs or spatula
  • Kitchen towel

Method

  1. Start by trimming the ends off the green beans and then pat them very dry with a clean kitchen towel. This helps them crisp up better in the air fryer.
  2. Place the green beans in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Toss gently to coat every bean evenly, ensuring they’re lightly coated without excess oil.
  3. Season the beans with salt and freshly ground pepper, then toss again to distribute the seasonings evenly.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for about 3 minutes. This ensures a hot environment for crispy results.
  5. Arrange the seasoned green beans in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to allow hot air to circulate freely and crisp all sides.
  6. Cook the green beans for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even browning and crisping.
  7. Check the beans; they should have golden, crispy edges and tender insides. If needed, cook for an additional 2 minutes for extra crunch.
  8. Transfer the crispy green beans to a serving plate and sprinkle with flaky sea salt while still hot. Serve immediately for maximum crunch and flavor.

Notes

Ensure green beans are thoroughly dried before tossing with oil to achieve maximum crispiness. Do not overcrowd the basket for even cooking. Add seasonings after cooking to prevent burning.
